Happy Totos Modern daycare (HTMD) is an upcoming Modern daycare centre located in Rongo town within Migori County. Our main goal is to provide childcare solutions to residents of Rongo town and its environs. We envisage providing children with opportunity to grow, learn and thrive. We intend to create lasting childhood memories to children from 6months to 3 years of age and to give their parents a peace of mind as they go about their businesses, knowing that their children are in the safest hands and place.

Key responsibilities
In addition to regular classroom teaching, you will be required to perform the following duties with utmost diligence.
1. Educational and programmatic responsibilities
Curriculum development implementation: Participate in creation and implementation of age-appropriate learning programs that align with the national curriculum and promote children's physical, social, emotional, and intellectual development.
Curriculum oversight: Work with teachers to maintain high curriculum standards, ensuring the delivery of quality, culturally responsive education.
Child assessment: Monitor children's progress and use assessments to evaluate program effectiveness and suggest necessary improvement measures to the directors.
Child advocacy: Prioritize the well-being and educational needs of all children in the center, including providing support for those with special needs.
2. Staff management
Recruitment and hiring: Recruit, hire, and organize for training of qualified childcare staff and teachers. (According to the 2006 Early Childhood Development (ECD) policy, teachers should have a professional certificate from an accredited institution.)
Supervision and development: Supervise teachers and other staff, conducting performance evaluations and organizing professional development opportunities to improve care and teaching practices.
Team leadership: Motivate and mentor staff to create a positive, high-performance work environment.
3. Operational and financial management
Licensing and compliance: Ensure the center complies with national and county government regulations regarding health, safety, and hygiene. Necessary documents include a business permit, public health certificate, and fire safety certificate.
Budgeting: coordinate with caregivers/teachers in setting monthly budgets, processing tracking expenses, and handling fee collection.
Record keeping: Maintain accurate records for the center's administration, including finances, attendance, and children's progress.
Facility management: Ensure the premises and equipment are well-maintained to provide a safe and secure learning environment and care.
4. Communication and community relations
Parent engagement: Act as the primary point of contact for parents, addressing their concerns, holding meetings and providing regular updates on their child's progress.
Community outreach: Build positive relationships with parents and the wider community. This may involve marketing the daycare's services to attract new enrollments.
Stakeholder collaboration: Work with government officials, quality assurance officers, and development partners to stay updated on best practices and policy changes.
Qualifications
Diploma in Primary Teachers Education or ECDE with atleast 2 years experience interacting with children and parents in a teaching environment
P1 certificate or Certificate in ECDE with 5 years experience, 2 of which MUST be in a managerial position.
Knowledge in basic computer operations is desirable.
Must be willing to commit a minimum of 1 year working with us when hired.
